Painting
For a fine finish opt for factory sanded panels or use a wire brush to remove any loose wafers and resin from un-sanded panels. From here, add a coat of primer and top coat with a spirit base (as directed by the manufacturers).
If it doesn't matter how it looks
Use water-based products. These will give you a slight swelling of the surface wafers, as well as streaking and outlining of the chip.
We can't guarantee other manufacturer's product claims so always test a small area before you cover the whole thing, following the coating manufacturer's guidelines.
